It's Time...

Okay; that's it.  I am soooooo done with all the political correctness that allows our society to deftly sidestep the big issues facing this country.  I am weary of hyphenated-Americans, and intolerance for differing points of view, including the religious faith that formed the basis for this amazing experiment in government that our Founders called America.  I am tired of those who never assume responsibility for their own actions, preferring to hide behind delusions of deprivation or the behaviors of others.  I am ready for the vast majority of good, decent, hard-working Americans to join together to speak truth to power with the impunity that comes from righteousness and belief in the essential goodness of this country.

I refuse to accept the premise that this country is evil simply because it has given birth to innovation that, in the context of a free market, leads to wealth. Is such an pejorative attributed to the Middle Eastern countries that have acquired wealth merely through tapping into natural resources that they neither created nor developed the technology to harness?  No, it isn't... and if it were, it would be roundly rejected as racist and vicious.

Having lived in a third-world country, I am immensely and eternally grateful to have been born, raised and educated in the United States.  This is a nation that, up until recently, celebrated and actively supported the entrepreneur, rejoiced in teachers who brought creativity and passion to their classrooms, and cherished the diversity of thought and religion that lends such richness to this tapestry we call our home.

So, with this blog, I am issuing a challenge to all who believe in the strength that has been our nation's in the past: Let us not sit idly by while those who would denigrate our history and achievements voice their opinions unchallenged by the truth.  Let us reject the notion that we must accept the labels affixed to us by both our enemies and those who masquerade as our friends in the secret hope of our downfall.  Let us return to the simple truths that endowed our Founders with the fortitude to challenge the world's dominant power in the pursuit of equality and true freedom.  Let us dig deep into the reservoirs of common sense and respect for human life that have seen this nation through some of its darkest hours, and throw the lies back in the teeth of the liars, whether they be found within our borders or without.

I welcome your comments, and plan to post to this blog as often as I can with commentary on issues as they arise in our society, or as they appear to be disappearing from view before satisfactory resolution.  As I heard one commentator put it this morning, we do appear to be suffering from a sort of "scandal overload," which might cause us to lose energy in the pursuit of truth, solutions and justice.  But we cannot allow the current surfeit of government excesses and wrongdoing to deter us from staying the course until the cover-ups are revealed and the wrongdoers made to atone for their sins against human dignity and liberty.
